The Honey Dwarf Gourami (Trichogaster chuna), also known as the Sunset Gourami, is a small species of gourami from northern India. They are characterized by their small bodies, long tendril-like fins, and playful demeanour. “Red” honey gourami have bright red/orange scales, as compared to the standard gold. This listing is for juvenile honey gourami, approx. 1 inch across.

The Honey Dwarf Gourami is a great option for the beginner aquarist. Their small size (reaching 3 inches maximum) and peaceful demeanor make them great candidates for a peaceful community aquarium. They prefer water temperatures between 72 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the pH neutral (7.0). A pair can be housed in an aquarium as small as 10 gallons, but these fish show better colouration in larger and well-planted aquariums.

These fish are omnivores and will eat most commercially-available fish foods. For best colouration, we recommend alternating between high-quality frozen foods, flakes, and pellets.

The Honey Dwarf Gourami loves having tankmates to interact with. They can be kept with any small, non-aggressive tankmates. These fish like to hang out near the surface of the water, so tankmates that occupy the mid-level and bottom of the aquarium are ideal. This gourami can be kept with adult dwarf shrimp species and snails with no issues.
