The Bamboo Shrimp (Atyopsis moluccensis), also known as the "wood shrimp" or "flower shrimp", is a filter-feeding species of shrimp native to Southeast Asia.

These shrimp should have at least 20 gallons of space per shrimp. Aquariums that are longer rather than taller are preferred. These shrimp grow up to three inches long and live for 2 years on average. All shrimp, including the Bamboo Shrimp, are very sensitive to poor water quality and new uncycled aquariums. Only add shrimp to fully cycled aquariums. They prefer temperatures from the low-to-high 70's.

These shrimp are not bottom feeders. Rather, they filter-feed using their "fans". Bamboo shrimp require aquariums with high flow and don't tend to do well in still water. In a densely-planted, high-current tank, bamboo shrimp will eat any tiny loose dead plant matter that comes their way. In aquariums with few or no plants, it's important to make sure the shrimp is being fed by adding very small foods to the water (such as crushed algae pellets).

These shrimp are very docile and will get along with any other peaceful fish species. They can live with any other non-predatory shrimp or snail. They are relatively defenseless and make easy prey for predatory fish.
