The Odessa Barb (Pethia padamya) is a species of barb characterized by their dark bodies and thick bright red stripe along their bodies. The females have a more dull coloration and lack the red stripe. This listing is for juvenile Odessa Barbs of mixed sex, approx. 1" long.
These fish are easy to care for and very hardy. They are a shoaling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 3. Because they get 3" in length and prefer to live in groups, it is recommended to keep them in 30+ gallon aquariums. These fish do best in temperatures from the low-to-high 70's, and will live 4 years on average.
The Odessa barb can live with other small, energetic fish. Any fish too slow, or with particularly long fins, should not be kept with Odessa barbs. Their aggression reduces in larger shoals (6+ members).
