The Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) is a very easy-to-care-for, low-light plant. Long green leaves and skinny black roots grow out of a thick green horizontal "stem" called a rhizome. "Narrow" varieties grow leaves that are more slender than the average java fern plant. Each plant is approx. 4 inches long, and does NOT come with a pot.

These plants are extremely well-suited for low-light aquariums. They do not tend to do well in moderate to high light. These plants do not require a planting substrate and can be anchored to surfaces/objects with fishing line or cotton string. Make sure the rhizome remains above the substrate, as it needs to be exposed to light to remain healthy. Roots may be buried.

It can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, from the high 60's to low 80's. These are slow-growing plants that propagate by growing new baby plants directly off of any fully-formed leaves.
