The Kribensis Cichlid (Pelvicachromis pulcher) is a small, peaceful species of cichlid from Niger. They are pale yellow with distinct brown stripes and have spotted fins. Kribensis have red bellies, which are brighter on females.
Kribs require a minimum tank size of 20 Gallons with plenty of plants or caves along the bottom of the aquarium. They require a water temperature between 75 to 77 Fahrenheit and do best in water that is slightly acidic (pH 6.5). An adult Krib may get up to 4" long.
These cichlids are carnivores and will eat most foods offered, such as flakes, pellets, freeze-dried, frozen, or live foods. We recommend alternating between foods for best health and colours.
While these fish are considered peaceful, it is not recommended to keep them with slow-moving fish with long fins that may be prone to getting nipped. It is also not recommended to keep these fish with other bottom-dwelling cichlids that may be territorial.
