Ghost Shrimp (Palaemonetes paludosus) is an almost entirely transparent species of freshwater shrimp. These animals can be purchased as a feeder for larger species of carnivorous fish (such as cichlid species).
They prefer water in the mid '70s, where high 70's and low 80's are ideal for breeding. They reach up to 1.5 inches in length and may be kept in a minimum of 5 gallons. As all shrimp, they should only be added to a completely cycled tank. They are very sensitive to poor water quality.
These animals are a hardy and easy-to-care-for bottom feeder that can comfortably live with peaceful animals that won't try to eat them. Ghost shrimp may try to eat smaller fish (such as fry) and smaller shrimp species (such as small Neocaridina), so be wary of that when choosing tankmates.
